Coen Needell

Pre-Doctoral Researcher

Coen Needell is a pre-doctoral researcher working to build up the CSSLab’s data infrastructure, particularly in the Penn Media Accountability Project (PennMAP). He is also helping to develop a platform for the Lab’s data dashboards and data-driven journalism.

Coen completed a masters in Computational Social Science at the University of Chicago with thesis research on the use of deep learning to estimate the memorability of images. He holds a B.A. in Physics and Economics from Washington University in St. Louis. Before joining the CSSLab, he was a pre-doctoral researcher at Microsoft Research, NYC.
